2008 National Skills Challenge Final

The EGU/EWGA hosted the 2008 Skills Challenge National Final on Saturday 13th September at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa.

Although wet under foot following downpours on Friday evening, Saturday luckily brought about some pleasant September weather and at 9.45am the junior players started the Final. The short game area was a gruelling trial for the most skilful of players and with difficult lies and tricky slopes this event was not for the faint hearted. Bonus points were awarded for additional putts and shots holed on the chipping and bunker Challenges and a new bunker proved a real test for the Tour players in Sand Blast.

Richard Flint EGU/EWGA Golf Development Manager commented “The standard of play seen at the Skills Final demonstrates the importance and benefits of structured coaching programmes within golf clubs. With over 2,500 juniors registered these competitors have shown strength, determination and great skill to reach the final and should be proud of their achievements.”
