In the current social climate, a policy which protects children in golf clubs is an absolute essential. EGU, ELGA, PGA and a number of other organisations, including NSPCC, have come together to produce a policy, guidelines and resource pack for golf clubs. Details of this can be obtained from the
EGU website.
The Children in Golf Resource Pack was first published in 2005 and distributed to many golf clubs. Many clubs and county unions made comments on how this first issue of the document could be improved. Accordingly, the Children in Golf Strategy Group have formed a working party to review feedback, which has already been received from county unions, and to formulate a questionnaire to all golf clubs on this matter, which is to be distributed in March 2006.
When all feedback and comments have been received and reviewed, a decision will then be taken on how any changes can be incorporated into the existing Resource Pack.
An interim User Guide has now been produced (29th June 2006) which is to be used in conjunction with the existing Resource Pack and will enable clubs to develop their own Child Protection procedures. It is anticipated that the revised Resource Pack will be available around the end of this year.
